Where Duolingo is better

  • Starting from zero: a structured path teaches the basics step by step.
  • A generous free plan, and it is very good at turning practice into a daily game.
  • Spoken practice with an AI character (Video Call), which meum lingua doesn't offer.
  • Android, the web and 40+ languages.
  • A cheaper family plan for more people.

Where meum lingua is better

  • Real journalism instead of sentences written for an app: today's news from the papers you choose, including ones you already subscribe to.
  • It goes beyond B2: articles at C1 and C2 for advanced learners.
  • You read about what interests you, and learn the words that matter for those topics.
  • Writing practice: a 2-minute journal with corrections.

Which one should you choose?

Choose Duolingo if you're starting from zero, want a free daily habit that feels like a game, or want to practise speaking with an AI character.

Choose meum lingua if you know the basics (roughly A2 or above) and want to understand real news in the language — the kind of reading you will actually do.

Or use both: keep your Duolingo routine for the basics and add five minutes of real news a day. meum lingua can count your existing Duolingo streak, so you don't start from zero.
